IDT 300: Design and Development of Multimedia for Learning

In this course, students will develop educational videos and interactive tutorials. Course work consists mainly of hands-on projects using specialized software.

This is an undergraduate instructional design course that I designed and developed.

Course Description

This course will focus on the design and development of multimedia-based instruction including video and interactive tutorials. Introduces instructional design concepts and processes, learning theories, multimedia design principles, related trends and issues, and practical applications of multimedia-based learning in a variety of contexts.

Learning Goals

Upon completion of IDT 300, students will be able to:

  • Evaluate learning experiences for usability and pedagogy.
  • Analyze the characteristics of existing and emerging technologies and their potential use.
  • Apply the instructional design model ADDIE to create an instructional intervention.
  • Use screen recording software to create effective video tutorials.
  • Use authoring software to combine audio, graphics, and other multimedia to create an original learning experience.
  • Incorporate interactivity into a learning experience.
