Activity – Use ThingLink to Create VR

ThingLink is a platform for creating simple virtual reality experiences using 360 photos and video.

ThingLink offers a limited but free account for teachers/educators. It offers many formats, some of which (look for 360 or VR in title) can be experienced in VR mode using a phone and a headset, or on these all-in-one VR systems: Oculus, Samsung Gear, and HMD Odyssey.

Formats available in ThingLink

Purchasing a paid account would allow an educator to use content as graded activities in a learning management system and also offers more options for embedding and sharing.

Demo

Here’s a ThingLink I created with a 360 photo of my office (created using Google Street View). Note that you can link multiple ThingLinks together using hotspots. In this example, I used ThingLink to produce an artifact that helps viewers get to know a little about me!

Using ThingLink to Create Content

You’ll need to create a free account on ThingLink. If you are an educator, use a teacher account to get started.
